Design Philosophy
Our exceptional team believes in the philosophy that course playability should not only retain loyal players, but capture new audiences as well. That's why each of our golf course designs offer creative tee placements, shot options and optimal speed of play creating one-of-a-kind holes that offer a variety of challenges and degrees of difficulty.
We strive to make every hole beautiful and playable - but most of all, unique. We draw upon our own expertise and listen carefully to our client's input. In addition to design considerations we are also careful to factor in such criteria as cost of maintenance, overall budget concerns and on-going promotion of a course.

"What has impressed me most about Jim and Peter is their expansive knowledge of golf course development. Not only are they committed to course playability, but they have also been our best resource for virtually every design, construction and operational issue." |

"From the beginning, Peter and Jim insisted that our staff be an integral part of the design process. Their willingness to consider - and even accept - some of our design concepts was important as well as gratifying." |

The results of our efforts include unique, memorable, acclaimed golf courses which preserve the integrity of the surrounding environment - and enhance the natural beauty of the land. The elements of nature - wind, water, turf sand and stone - these are the tools of our trade. We begin each project determined to make the land, the natural combination of these elements, the hero. We bring no pre-conceived notions regarding design themes or overarching styles. We seek never to repeat ourselves.
The unique characteristics of the terrain, combined with our understanding of and passion for course design, shape the approach to every individual Jacobsen Hardy project.
